Tree sleeping
It may sound uncomfortable, but every Christmas Eve our family sleeps under the Christmas tree.

Stocking people
Our favorite Christmas tradition is "Stocking People." Each year after Christmas we draw names. All year long we pick out little $5-10 gifts for our stocking person. The point is to remember that person, pray for them and find the most bizarre gifts possible. We visit a lot of truck stops, so we have a rich selection. There are some stocking staples that everyone gets, including an orange, an apple, socks, underwear and gum (there is no spiritual significance assigned to these items, they are just handy). We try to sneak the stockings to the fireplace without being seen, and then we open them Christmas morning. The gifts are both sentimental and comical, so we have a good time laughing and crying.

Eating all of Santa's cookies

I am looking forward to this Christmas and starting new traditions with my future wife, Emily. That's right, I'm getting married in December!
Mike (my brother) and I would always put cookies out for Santa Claus, but I couldn't resist and always ate them.

No turkey for us
We always have dinner around 4-5 p.m., but this is no traditional Christmas meal. It is different each year, sometimes even featuring seafood, but you will never find turkey and dressing at our Christmas dinner. After eating, we always head out to the movies.

Remembering Jesus Christ

Christmas was and is a very special time around our house. I'm so grateful to have been raised in a Christian home where the focus is always on Christ. One of my favorite traditions was going to a candlelight service on Christmas Eve. Afterward, we would come home, read the Christmas story from the book of Luke and close with a time of prayer, thanking God for all of His blessings that year. I cherish those moments all the time. It's not every year that my family can be together on Christmas but I always have the memories of that time when we were all still living at home, honoring the Lord on the most majestic eve of the year.

Family time
Every Christmas, I get real excited because I know I'm going to see my whole family. All through the year, everyone is so busy and going their own separate ways, we don't get to keep up with each other as much as we would like. But on Christmas Eve, my family, who is scattered all over, drops what they're doing and we all go to my uncle's house to spend Christmas Eve together.

A traveling Christmas

On Christmas, my family doesn't exchange a lot of presents. Instead, we usually try to take a family trip and try to concentrate on spending a lot of time together. It's always been really fun and we've been to some really cool places like Mexico and Gatlinburg.
