All of Me (Spring Hill)

Scott Krippayne has a way with pop songs. As a result, his tunes have been recorded by the cream of the Christian music crop, including Point of Grace, Avalon, Rebecca St. James and Sandi Patty, as well as appearing on his own albums. And All of Me—like Bright Star Blue Sky before it—is packed with pleasant pop tunes, many of which are sure to find a home with those who appreciate inspirational music.

The album opens with "Deeper Still," an earnest pop tune that urges listeners to move beyond complacency. That track is followed by the encouragement of "My Everything" before Krippayne slows things down with "What Breaks Your Heart," a silky-smooth ballad penned with Tony Wood that flirts with an R&B sound. The most unique cut, though, is "I’m Not Cool," a confessional track that has Krippayne chanting "I’m not cool but that’s okay/ My God loves me anyway."

The biggest departures on All of Me are "May I Have This Dance," an attempt to capture for posterity a father-daughter moment between Krippayne and his two-year-old daughter, and "Tell It Like It Is," written with Kyle Matthews, which boasts an almost jazzy feel that offers refreshing variety on the album.

There’s very little to take issue with on All of Me, produced by Kent Hooper and Matt Huesmann, except that it doesn’t boast any big surprises. The songs are nice but without any real standouts, adding up to a well-produced collection that struggles to be memorable.
