On the heels of Avalon bandmate Jody McBrayer’s solo effort comes Janna Long’s debut release. While McBrayer’s album was packed full of power pop, the backbone of Long’s album is her own pipes—and what a voice she has. The powerhouse vocalist stands apart from Avalon with such R&B flavored numbers as "Think About That," yet easily sachets into such ballads as "In Christ Alone" (yes, the same song that was popularized by Michael English).
The album revolves largely around inspirational messages, like Jesus being greater than any problem ("Greater Is He"), calling on the Lord when in despair ("Call") and finding contentment in Jesus ("Overjoyed"). However, Long also throws in an upbeat love song themed around the oft-written-about superhero, "Superman," that may bode well at mainstream radio. Overall, a solid debut from one of Christian music’s strongest voices.
