GRAMMYS GO GOSPEL
In addition to honoring all the major mainstream music genres, the 52nd annual GRAMMY Awards also unveiled trophies in several gospel categories. Artists who took home prizes on music's biggest night included:
Donnie McClurkin featuring
Karen Clark Sheard for "Best Gospel Performance" for "Wait on the Lord,"
Mary Mary for "Best Gospel Song" for "God in Me,"
Third Day in "Best Rock or Rap Gospel Album" for
Live Revelations, Israel Houghton in "Best Pop/Contemporary Gospel Album" for
The Power of One, Jason Crabb in "Best Southern/Country/Bluegrass Gospel Album" for his self-titled CD, the
O Happy Day compilation for "Best Traditional Gospel Album" and
Audience of One by
Heather Headley for "Best Contemporary R&B Gospel Album."

INDIE AWARDS
Speaking of award ceremonies, the ninth annual Independent Music Awards crowned several rising stars of all genres such as
All That Remains, Gemma Ray and Holly Golightly & The Brokeoffs. In addition to those mainstream acts, Christian pop/worship solo artist
John Mandeville (who also writes for the likes of
Avalon, Point of Grace and
4Him) took home the "Contemporary Christian Album" trophy for
We Belong to Heaven (I.P.O. Records).
LIFEHOUSE RETURNS
The fifth studio album from modern rock band
Lifehouse will hit streets March 2 under the moniker
Smoke & Mirrors (Geffen), advanced by the single "Had Enough" (featuring guest contributors
Chris Daughtry and
Richard Marx). To support the CD, the
Jason Wade-led group will join
Daughtry's arena tour this spring, which kicks off March 18 in Baltimore.
