Though originally named the
Michael Gungor Band, fans will notice a shortened moniker on the spine of that alternative worship leader's latest CD. Instead
Gungor's Beautiful Things (Brash) suggests a more collaborative band effort that finds the players entertaining Brit-pop influences like
Coldplay and
Matt Redman one minute, while switching gears to the earthy sides of
Over the Rhine or the bluesy licks of
John Mayer the next. No matter what the style, expect a vertically-framed mindset sure to inspire the modern day church to stamp out social injustice.
